About the GMD-1's
GMD stands for General Motors Diesel. Originally owned by the Canadian National Railways, the GMD-1 used by the CC&PA Railroad is rated at 1200 horsepower. It weighs in at about 239,780 lbs or about 120 tons. It is 55 feet long and can reach a maximum speed of 65 mph.
Rebuilt in 1986 by CN (Canadian National) and redesignated the 1151, the 1151 and three other sister units were purchased by Robbins in February of 1999, two for the Dardanelle & Russellville and two for the Ouachita Railroad. You will notice in earlier photos before the unit was repainted, there are the letters O-U-C-H stenciled on the nose.
The following info was taken from http://lrs.railspot.com/r-ouch.htm...
"The GMD1 is a 1200-horsepower light roadswitcher. These particular units — CN 1143, 1151, 1155, and 1159 — were built with A1A trucks, but were latter equipped with Flexicoil B trucks from retired GP9's.

The journey to Youngstown was not an uneventful one. The following APB was put out to railroad buffs in March of 2001, when the 1151 was lost for a couple of days.
